Record Space Information The first time covering the route, information about it needs to be recorded into a handheld device. In addition to each route being assigned it's own name, and the names of each street being recorded, each space is assigned a number, and you'll want to record whether or not it has a meter. Then, as you visit each space on the route, if there is a vehicle parked in the space, you'll record the license plate, state, whether the meter is paid for or not, as well as if it is handicapped, bagged or out of service. |

Analysis Back at the office, the data collected from the handheld device is then imported into an Excel spreadsheet. There it can be analyzed. If you look at the spreadsheet image on the right, you'll see that each space on each street, as well as a Y or an N, indicating the existance of a meter in the rows. As each row extends on to the left, each pass, or visit, to the space is also shown with the plate, state and a letter indicating the status of the meter. The colored portions show how a vehicle that has remained in the space for more than one pass is listed.
